Ø MITE 1
· If your child was born between 7/1/02 and 6/30/03 they must register for Mite 1 regardless of skill, size or experience. Most children in kindergarten are eligible for Mite 1. Parents may also concurrently register their child for Rookie Camp, especially if the child is new to hockey and skating.
· The Mite 1 Season is tentatively scheduled to start November 1, 2008 and end March 1, 2009
· Ice Schedule Breakdown - Mite 1 skaters will typically skate 1 – 2 times per week on a Saturday and Sunday and potentially a few weeknights throughout the season. A few outdoor ice practices will be scheduled throughout the season weather permitting.
· The breakdown between games and practices is about 70% practices and 30% games.
· Evaluations will be held on Saturday, October 25th. All players are encouraged to participate in evaluations.
· Mariucci Game Day – This season we have schedule all Mite Teams to play at Mariucci Arena. The date is Saturday, January 17.

Mandatory Parent meeting will be held at the Chaska Community Center on Wednesday October 15th from 7:30 to 9:30 in the Community room. Only one parent representative is needed to attend.
*Peer Grade Placement: In Situations where a player is not eligible for the level of their peer grade per USA Hockey Age Group Classifications, exceptions will be made. Specifically, these players will have the opportunity to play up a level should they choose. This rule is designed to enable those kids born in the months of July and August to play with their classmates.
Ø Rookie Camp for Pre-K Skaters
· We strongly urge parents of Pre-K children to register for Rookie Camp. If your child enjoys hockey after the Fall Rookie Camp, you may also want to register them in December for the Winter Rookie Camp. Technically, if your child is born on or after 7/1/03 and have turned 4 years old by the time the Rookie Camp begins they must register for Rookie Camp regardless of skill, size or experience.
More information about the Rookie Camp can be found under the Rookie Camp Section on the CCHA website.

More information about USA Hockey Certification can be found under the Coaches Section of this website.
Common questions on Equipment for Players
· Skate sharpening – Rule of thumb is every 4 – 6 skates on indoor ice, more frequently on outdoor ice.
· Hockey Sticks – If you are not sure which way your child shoots (left or right), a straight blade stick is recommended. Most sporting goods stores will be happy to cut your stick to the correct height (a good rule of thumb for stick height, with skates on the stick should come between the collar bone and chin. With the skates off, the stick should come between the chin and nose).
