Ø      Rookie Camp Registration Guidelines (2008-2009)

·        The Winter Rookie Camp is designed for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten age boys and girls, ages 4 – 6 (birthdates 7/01/02 – 1/24/05) who are interested in playing hockey.

·        The Rookie Camp is designed to work on basic skating (forward and backward), skating with the puck, shooting the puck, and fun drills and games.

·         We are allowing those Mite 1 & U6 skaters to register for the Winter Rookie Camp, especially if the child is new to hockey and skating. Those Mite 1 and U6 skaters may find the Winter Rookie Camp as an excellent opportunity to get additional ice time and instruction.

Common questions on Equipment for Players

·         Skate sharpening – Rule of thumb is every 4 – 6 skates on indoor ice, more frequently on outdoor ice.

·         Hockey Sticks – If you are not sure which way your child shoots (left or right), a straight blade stick is recommended.  Most sporting goods stores will be happy to cut your stick to the correct height (a good rule of thumb for stick height, with skates on the stick should come between the collar bone and chin. With the skates off, the stick should come between the chin and nose).
